The Crew / 006

Meet the Team.

A small, Canadian crew — Calgary-built, with talent from coast to coast. Never outsourced, never overseas. Quality over quantity, on every single frame. This isn't a roster of freelancers patched together for a job — it's a tight team of creators whose work has already performed and can speak for itself, with millions of organic views and brand campaigns to show for it.

We come at this from a creator's perspective: we understand modern branding because we live in the same feeds your audience does. The industry has changed — old marketing tactics don't land in a social media era where attention is earned in the first three seconds, not bought. We know what makes people stop, watch, and share, because we've done it ourselves — not from a deck, not from a playbook written before the feed existed.

Every person here has built something of their own first, which means they bring real taste, real instincts, and real accountability to every frame.

Saad
Waseem

Founder · Director · Cinematographer

Saad Waseem is the founder of Happy Day Films, a Calgary-based film and content studio built on a simple belief: the best brand work doesn't feel like advertising. It feels like a memory.

Saad started behind a camera the way a lot of filmmakers do — filming things he loved, for no one in particular. What followed was less typical. Under the name @happynotsaad he built a following of more than 400,000 people and generated over 750 million organic views, with zero dollars in ad spend. Those views weren't bought; they were earned, one story at a time.

That audience became the proving ground for how he works today. Saad directs and shoots with a creator's instinct for what people actually stop scrolling for, and a cinematographer's eye for how it should look when they do. The result is work that carries the polish of a commercial and the honesty of a personal video.

He's created social media and UGC content for Nike, SportChek, Bauer, YoungLA, and TrainingPeaks — directing, filming, and editing the kind of videos that live natively on feed — and appeared as national talent on the Nike × SportChek Vomero 18 campaign. Across more than 150 projects, the through-line has stayed the same: real people, real rooms, and a camera that knows when to hold still.

Saad works out of Calgary and takes on a small number of long-term brand partnerships at a time, alongside campaign and commercial work — a small, local crew, never outsourced overseas, with quality over quantity on every frame.

Lead Editor

Kevin
Nguyen

Editor · Creative Partner

Kevin is the editor and creative partner at Happy Day Films, and the reason so much of the studio's work lands the way it does.

An elite powerlifter with a colourist's eye, Kevin brings two things that rarely show up in the same person: the discipline of someone who trains for a living, and an instinct for pace, rhythm, and colour that turns good footage into something people finish watching. He cuts for feel first — where a beat should breathe, where it should hit, and what to leave on the floor.

He's built an audience of more than 70,000 followers of his own, which means he edits with a clear sense of how a video performs in the wild, not just how it looks in the timeline. His grades give Happy Day Films its signature look: warm, filmic, and unmistakably not stock.

Based in Montreal, Kevin partners with Saad on much of the studio's work — from concept through final delivery — and handles editing, colour, and finishing in-house in Canada, never handed off to an overseas edit farm.

Lead Photographer & Stills

Daniel is the lead photographer at Happy Day Films — a Calgary-based visual creative with a genuine instinct for capturing people, moments, and everything that happens behind the scenes.

His work has taken him into professional sports, including the NHL, and deep into the fitness industry alongside creators and influencers tied to Gymshark, Alphalete, YoungLA, and Darc Sport. That range gives him a sharp read on movement, physique, energy, and personality — the things a still has to carry that footage can't.

Outside of sports and fitness, Daniel shoots live events, weddings, and a wide range of projects, always in the middle of the action, finding the moments that happen naturally and turning them into images that feel authentic to the experience. He has a unique eye for angles and composition, always looking for a different way into a shot.

At Happy Day Films, Daniel focuses on stills — the key moments, details, and personalities that bring each project to life — and on the behind-the-scenes side of productions, capturing the people, energy, and process that happen beyond the final product.
